On 1 February 2026, SSPDF soldiers from the Dinka and Nuer tribes clashed amongst themselves in the Wunlit area of Northern Bari Payam (location coded to Kenyi, the Northern Bari Payam headquarters in Juba County, Central Equatoria State), resulting in 1 fatality. The incident began as a heated argument between the Dinka and Nuer SSPDF soldiers over the current political situation before turning into a physical fight, and then escalated to gunfire as more soldiers joined in. 1 uncorroborated source claimed that the Nuer soldiers immediately defected.
