On 1 February 2026, a Malian army vehicle returning from Ke-Macina struck an IED planted by an armed group (likely JNIM, based on location), resulting in the deaths of 5 soldiers. The bodies of four soldiers, who were killed, were recovered at the scene and buried the same day in Ke-Macina. The vehicle was returning from an evacuation of civilians injured during a militant drone attack on 31 January 2026, in Tongolo-Coura (coded separately).
