31st January 2026
On 31 January 2026, Toubou fighters and the LNA, including border guards and the 676th Brigade, clashed at the Tummo Border Crossing (Murzuq, South), along the border with Niger. The clash took place after Toubou fighters launched simultaneous attacks on the border crossing, as well as the Salvador Pass and the Wadi Bougrara crossing (coded separately). The Toubou armed group briefly took control of the Tummo Border Crossing, and its fighters stated in a video that their action aimed to denounce the dire living conditions in southern Libya, the liquidation of political opposition to the LNA, and its control over fuel and goods smuggling. They also threatened to attack vehicles and checkpoints involved in these activities. The LNA regained control of the border crossing shortly afterward, and it stated that 3 of its members were killed, an unspecified number were injured, and others were captured in the three simultaneous attacks. Casualties among Toubou fighters, who according to the LNA fled into Niger, were unknown. 3 fatalities split across three events. 1 fatality coded to this event.
