SAA event in Mali on Wed 18th February 2026

Mali 🇲🇱 | On February 16, shortly before 5:00 AM, several dozen Katiba Macina (JNIM) terrorists on motorcycles attacked the gendarmerie in Kalana (Bougouni). The material damage is significant.

🔴 Fortunately, after a long and violent exchange of fire, the gendarmes managed to withdraw before the terrorists entered the barracks, and no casualties were reported.

🔵 The terrorists looted the barracks, stealing a vehicle, weapons, and ammunition, and burning what they couldn't take (📷 loot shown in the inset).

⚠️ The town of Kalana had already been targeted by terrorists on December 26, 2025. Two Chinese nationals were kidnapped at a gold mining site.

🔹 Kalana is located near the border with Guinea and not far from the border with Ivory Coast.

🔸 JNIM terrorists claimed responsibility for the attack and filmed the barracks after it was set ablaze (📽️ in the first comment), and a witness filmed the inside of the barracks after the terrorists had left (📽️ in the second comment).

🔹 During these holy periods of Ramadan and Lent, let us hope for a lull in terrorist attacks.
