Niger 🇳🇪 - On February 14, 2026, the gendarmerie post in Guéchémé (Dosso region), located about fifteen kilometers from the Nigerian border 🇳🇬, was attacked by members of the Lakurawa armed group. At least four gendarmes were killed.
🔶 Lakurawa is active in northwestern Nigeria (Sokoto and Kebbi states) and regularly conducts cross-border incursions into southwestern Niger. The group still has bases in the Dosso region, where the attack occurred.
🔴 Four gendarmes killed are visible in the video in the comments (📹⤵️), but some local sources report a higher death toll, potentially reaching six members of the security forces.
⚠ The targeted gendarmes belonged to the squadrons of Dan Kastari and Doutchi. They were involved in Operation Damusa, conducted by the Nigerien security forces as part of the fight against armed terrorist groups. A recent analysis of the Lakurawa group's situation is available in the quoted post.
