On 27 January 2026, unknown gunmen (likely Samburu militia who have recently been active in the sub-county) engaged in an armed clash with police reservists at the upper Naibunga National Police Reservists camp (Laikipia North, Laikipia), before raiding the nearby villages and driving away with 1400 (other sources mention 1200) livestock (coded separately). Several reservists sustained gunshot wounds during the incident.
