On the morning of February 16, the Durak column of the Dhway National Liberation Army (DNLA) attacked Military Council outposts in Maung Myet Shoung village, about 10 miles northeast of Thayawaddy town, the column announced.

The statement reported 19 soldiers killed, including one major. It also said they captured one Type 81 machine gun, 13 G3 rifles, two G4s, one AK-47, three MA-5s, 73 G3 magazines, hand grenades, loose ammunition, and five walkie-talkies.
