A police operation conducted yesterday in La Masica, Atlántida department, Honduras, ended with the deaths of four suspected members of the criminal group known as "Los Del Wilmer" (or linked to "Los Olanchanos"), including leader Wilmer Adalí Ávila Sánchez (also reported as Wilmer Ávila), who had escaped from El Porvenir prison in late 2025. The clash also claimed the life of one police officer, with three others injured (some reports mention four officers wounded initially, one later confirmed deceased). The operation aimed to recapture Ávila, a key figure in the local criminal structure, but escalated into an armed confrontation when officers were met with gunfire in the San Marcos area.
