Kidnap victim regains freedom as gunmen abduct another resident in Benue
By: Zagazola Makama
A woman earlier abducted in Benue State has regained freedom and reunited with her family, even as gunmen kidnapped another resident in a fresh attack in Buruku Local Government Area.
Security sources confirmed that the released victim, identified as Orika Orji, was freed by her captors and safely returned to her relatives. Efforts are ongoing to track down those responsible for her abduction.
In a separate incident on Feb. 17 at about 3:00 a.m., suspected gunmen abducted a resident, Michael Igwe Ngene, from his home in Ugbema community.
Sources said the attackers also took away his ash-coloured Toyota Corolla LE with registration number RSH 75 Abuja, which was later abandoned along the road and recovered.
A joint security and local protection team visited the scene shortly after the report and has commenced a manhunt for the perpetrators, with ongoing efforts to locate and rescue the victim.
Residents of the area have expressed concern over the recurring attacks and called for intensified security measures to curb criminal activities in the locality.
