On 26 January 2026, the 55th Brigade, commanded by Muammar al-Dawi, opened fire on a Turkish-made Bayraktar TB2 combat drone (likely operated by the GNU-affiliated Libyan army, the only group known to possess these drones). They missed the shot and the drone did not return fire. There were no casualties. The incident took place amid rising tensions between the 55th Brigade, commanded by Muammar al-Dawi and the most powerful armed group in Wershefana, and the 111th Brigade, led by Abdul Salam Al Zoubi, who is also the GNU Undersecretary of the Ministry of Defense.
