On 30 January 2026, near El Terrero, Guerrero, suspected members of Los Ardillos Gang attacked an estimated 600 members of the UPOEG and the CIPOG-EZ while traveling in a caravan of 40 vehicles with drones. The community police shot back and there were no casualties. The caravan was part of an effort to expel the criminal group Los Ardillos from communities. Following the attack, the community police withdrew and regrouped near Pueblo Viejo and Rancho Viejo, stating they were waiting for the Mexican Army and National Guard to arrive. As a result of the attack, the groups did not succeed in occupying any of the targeted communities.
