Other MoA event in Patuakhali-2, Baufal area, Bangladesh on Sun 8th February 2026

On February 8, at least 50 people were injured in violent clashes between Jamaat-e-Islami (JeI) and Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) activists in Baufal Upazila (Sub-District) of Patuakhali-2 constituency, reports Prothom Alo. BNP leaders and activists have been accused of ambushing a Jamaat candidate's procession in the river-lined Chandradwip Union of Patuakhali-2 constituency (Baufal) upazila. At least 40 people were injured in the incident on Sunday afternoon. Later, 10 more people from both sides were injured in a counter-attack and chase between the two sides. Most of the injured are Jamaat members. Among them are Union Jamaat Amir Anichur Rahman (55) and Secretary Md. Aminul. 25 people have been admitted to the Upazila Health Complex. Among them was the seriously injured Mosa. Lia Jahan (25), Jamal Mridha (22), and Delwar Hossain Gazi (45) were sent to Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital in Barisal after receiving primary treatment. Among them, except for Delwar Hossain, the remaining two are Jamaat workers.
