Niger 🇳🇪 | On February 10th, rebels from the MPLJ (Patriotic Movement for Liberty and Justice) attacked the Dibeilla-Agadem oil site (Diffa).

🔴 According to the communiqué (📷 below), the pro-Bazoum rebels reportedly killed at least 24 members of the security forces and destroyed 3 of their vehicles, while also damaging oil infrastructure.

⚫️ The MPLJ acknowledges the loss of one fighter.

🔸 Unofficial information circulating on social media indicates that the rebel attack was repelled, resulting in the deaths of around thirty rebels.

🔹 The MPLJ rebel movement, which emerged from the FPL (Patriotic Liberation Front), focuses its attacks on oil infrastructure in the Termit Basin and on the pipeline leading to the Benin coast.🇧🇯 These attacks primarily target the Chinese company 🇨🇳 CNPC (China National Petroleum Corp.) and its subsidiary WEPCO (West African Oil Pipeline Co.).

⚠️ In addition to the losses among the security forces, the economic losses are colossal, potentially reaching 5 billion CFA francs per day. Oil companies are one of the country's economic engines and a major source of foreign currency for the CNSP authorities.

ℹ️ It should be noted that this Dibeilla-Agadem oil site was already targeted by an attack from the MPLJ on December 6, 2025.

🔸 In addition to the strengthening of the terrorist movements of the Islamic State in the Greater Sahara (ISGS) and JNIM in the Tillabéri region, the Lakurawa group in the Dosso region, and ISWAP and Boko Haram in the Diffa region, the country is also facing the MPLJ rebel movement in the east. The security situation is becoming alarming and one of the country's major challenges.
