CBRN event in Madagascar on Sat 4th October 2025
4th October 2025
Demonstrators took to the streets of Antananarivo on Saturday, October 4, lobbing stones at police who responded by firing tear gas to disperse the crowds. However, protesters remain resolute, vowing to continue their demonstrations until their demands are met. The youth-led movement is calling for President Andry Rajoelina's resignation over chronic water shortages, power outages amongst other grievances. The protests have turned increasingly violent since erupting in late September, with at least 22 people killed and more than 100 injured according to UN reports. Rajoelina dissolved his government earlier this week and invited dialogue, but demonstrators say this falls short of their demands. | via Reuters
