In Zeyawaddy town, Phyu Township, Bago Region, resistance forces attacked a military checkpoint that had been extorting money from travelers, killing one warrant officer and seizing two rifles, according to an intelligence officer from Ayeyarwaddy Battalion No. 3 (P 26002), who spoke to Yangon Khit Thit News.

At around 4:30 p.m. on February 5, a member of Ayeyarwaddy Battalion No. 3 (Hinthada District Battalion 2) entered the checkpoint near the Zeyawaddy sugar mill — where soldiers had been detaining civilians and demanding money — and opened fire with a 9mm pistol.
