SAA event in Mexico on Tue 27th January 2026
27th January 2026
This morning in Culiacán, Sinaloa, an armed confrontation unfolded in the Bachigualato sector near the airport area. Security forces pursued and intercepted a suspicious convoy following reports of armed individuals in a white Hyundai Tucson vehicle. The clash resulted in a municipal police officer being injured by glass shards from bullet impacts (non-life-threatening; he is receiving medical care and is reported stable). Four alleged gunmen were detained, and authorities seized four long firearms, tactical gear, and the vehicle. Additionally, during the operation and pursuit, the official vehicle of Culiacán's Secretary of Public Security and Transit, Alejandro Bravo Martínez, came under fire and sustained bullet impacts (though he and other occupants remained unharmed due to the vehicle's protection). In a related incident amid the chaos, the secretary's vehicle was involved in a collision with another car, injuring a man and his son who were inside it. Classes were suspended in nearby schools as a precaution. The operation involved coordinated efforts from state and municipal forces, with the secretary personally participating in the response to the initial report.
