SAA event in Mexico on Tue 27th January 2026

This afternoon in Zapopan, Jalisco, an armed attack unfolded outside a dry cleaner (tintorería) at the intersection of Avenidas Guadalupe and Manuel J. Clouthier (near Avenida Patria) in the Jardines del Tepeyac or Benito Juárez area. Gunmen targeted a man traveling with his escorts, opening fire on their vehicle, reportedly a presumed armored truck. The assault left five people injured including at least two escorts wounded at the scene and others (possibly additional escorts) struck nearby on Avenida Patria. Authorities from the Fiscalía del Estado de Jalisco, Policía Municipal de Zapopan, Guardia Nacional, and emergency services (including Cruz Verde) responded quickly, cordoning off the area, collecting ballistic evidence (including numerous spent casings), and transporting the wounded to hospitals. An alert was issued for a green Ford Maverick truck potentially linked to the attackers. The incident caused road closures and heavy security presence in the zone as investigations continue into what appears to be a targeted hit by an armed group. Videos circulating online show the chaotic aftermath and response.
