SAA event in Mexico on Sun 1st February 2026

According to various local media outlets in Colima, two women murdered this morning (Saturday, January 31, 2026) inside their home in the Placetas Estadio neighborhood have been identified as relatives of Mario Delgado Carrillo, the head of the Secretariat of Public Education (SEP) and a prominent Morena party member. The victims were María Eugenia "Geña" Delgado (aunt) and her daughter Sheila Amezcua Delgado (cousin/prima), who reportedly ran a home-based business selling homemade food and pastries. The attack occurred in the early morning hours when armed individuals entered the residence and shot them multiple times; both died at the scene. Authorities later reported that three presumed suspects were killed in a subsequent confrontation with security forces in Villa de Álvarez. As of now, Mario Delgado has not issued any public statement regarding the incident. The case is under investigation by the Colima state authorities, reportedly following the protocol for feminicide.
