A video has surfaced showing the armed attack on the security detail of Senator Jairo Castellanos, which occurred Thursday (February 5, 2026) in Arauca department, Colombia. The footage, now in the possession of authorities, was allegedly recorded by the attackers themselves and captures the harassment and fatal shooting of the bodyguards. The assault, attributed by authorities to ELN guerrilla elements, resulted in the deaths of two members of the Unidad Nacional de Protección (UNP) scheme: UNP escort driver Wilmer Antonio Leal and National Police protection officer Esmeli Manrique.
