In Falam Township, Chin State, Chin National Army (CNA) forces and allied Chin resistance groups launched a surprise assault on a military council column, reportedly killing 36 soldiers — including one captain — and seizing 33 weapons along with a large amount of ammunition.

According to reports, around 300 junta troops had moved from Kalay, Sagaing Region, to Chin State on January 20 and established a base near Zaunglei Village, situated between Thantlang and Falam. The attack by Chin forces took place yesterday (February 3).

CNA spokesperson Salai Htet Ni confirmed that the battle lasted from 6 a.m. until around 1 p.m. and that, in addition to the 36 killed, about 20 junta soldiers were wounded. The Chin forces captured 33 assorted weapons and over 5,000 rounds of ammunition.
