30th January 2026
On January 30, Police detained two unidentified persons and recovered 42.9 kilograms (kg) of heroin, four hand grenades, one Star-mark pistol and 46 live cartridges from Othian village under Rajasansi Police Station (PS) in Amritsar District of Punjab, which neutralised a cross-border narco-terror network, reports The Tribune. Police intercepted a motorcycle, following which suspects abandoned the consignment and fled. Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Sandeep Goel stated that preliminary investigation indicated the narcotics, arms and explosives were dropped by drones from across the border, pointing to an organised cross-border module. This is the biggest seizure recorded in the District in 2026.
