On January 30, the Counter Intelligence Wing of the State Special Operations Cell (SSOC), along with the Border Security Force (BSF), fired 40 rounds at intruders near the India-Pakistan border at Gatti No. 3 Border Outpost, Teja Ruhela Village in Fazilka District of Punjab, and subsequently recovered 21 pistols, 39 magazines, 310 live cartridges and over 2.16 kilograms (kg) of heroin, reports The Tribune. Director General of Police (DGP) Gaurav Yadav said preliminary investigations indicated Pakistan-based smugglers had crossed the zero line and were operating close to the border fence. Alert action by the BSF prevented the illegal delivery of arms and narcotics.
