The AES Air Forces reported to have conducted precision airstrikes on January 31 in the Akabar area near the border with Niger in the Menaka region of Mali, which resulted in the neutralization of several IS-Sahel fighters. In separate airstrikes against IS-Sahel on January 29, the Malian army reports that a commander named Abou Alghabas Ichamli was killed north of Menaka city.
