On 21 January 2026, a Niger militia opened fire on Nigerian troops and detonated an IED in Nabwi (Shiroro, Niger). The troops were attacked while clearing mines and IEDs planted by the militia. They repelled the attack and forced the attackers to retreat. There were no casualties.
