On 16 January 2026, in Kyauktaga town (Kyauktaga township, Bago district, Bago-East region), a police officer shot dead three fellow police officers and his wife at the Kyauktaga Myoma police station in the morning after he had a quarrel with his wife and fellow police officers attempted to mediate. He then fled with weapons. 4 fatalities.
