On 16 January 2026, in Sittwe township (Sittwe district, Rakhine state), the Myanmar military conducted airstrikes by dropping bombs and firing machine guns on the areas suspected to be the positions of the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) using a fighter jet at about 6 pm. Casualties unknown.
