On 16 January 2026, in Kyaukpyu township (Kyaukpyu district, Rakhine state), the Arakan Army (ULA/AA) attacked a Myanmar military column of about 150 troops coming from the Kyaukpyu-based No.32 police battalion as they were advancing towards Thaing Chaung village. The military conducted drone strikes and fired artillery rounds during the clash. Casualties unknown.
