On 16 January 2026, an unidentified armed group engaged a police officer in a firefight at Aqua Triton Agricultural Farm in Ogunmakin (Oluyole, Oyo), killing the officer and abducting an Indian expatriate whom the police tried to defend. The hostage was released on 21 January 2026, and it was unclear whether a ransom was paid. There was 1 fatality.
