On 16 January 2026, in Santarem (Para), military police officers clashed with drug traffickers during an attempted drug delivery in the Maracana neighborhood. The suspects opened fire on a police vehicle while trying to flee in a silver car. Three suspects were arrested in follow-up operations in the Mapiri and Aparecida neighborhoods. Drugs, vehicles, and materials used for drug distribution were seized. There were no fatalities.
