On 16 January 2026, in Parnaiba (Piaui), military police officers shot and injured a drug trafficker in the Frei Higino neighbourhood. The officers conducted an operation after receiving reports about the suspect, who was selling drugs. They approached the suspect, who then threatened the officers using a knife and tried to escape. The officers shot and injured him. He was arrested. Police seized drugs portioned for sale. There were no fatalities.
