On 16 January 2026, armed clashes and shelling exchange took place between military forces of Syria and QSD forces, supported by PKK forces, on the Dayr Hafir axis in the eastern countryside of Aleppo. The fighting included heavy machine-gun fire and artillery shelling, and military forces of Syria also shot down a QSD drone that attempted to target their positions. Casualties unknown.
