On 16 January 2026, SPLM/A-IO and ORSS members clashed with SSPDF forces in Narus Town, near the South Sudan-Kenya border, along the main road linking Kapoeta to Nadapal, Narus Payam (Kapoeta East, Eastern Equatoria). The opposition members were repelled. Casualties unknown. Similar incidents involving the opposition and government forces occurred in the same area on 14 and 15 January 2026 (coded separately). The incidents have led to the displacement of around 5000 civilians to Kenya and other surrounding areas.
