Around 15 January 2026 (as reported), Al Shabaab detonated an explosive targeting security forces (likely police officers, police reservists, and military officers for their involvement in Al Shabaab operations) traveling between Garissa and Dadaab (Dadaab, Garissa). Al-Shabaab claimed to have destroyed the vehicle as well as killed at least 1 officer.
