On 15 January 2026, ENDF conducted a drone strike targeted at Fano militia and mistakenly hit the Kebele militia camp at Sefi Dildiy near Mesheha (Sahila, Wag Hamra, Amhara), killing at least 36 and wounding an additional 16 Kebele militia members. An additional 2 Kebele militia members died after admitted to a hospital. The Kebele militia members were in a daily briefing meeting when the strike occurred. The leaders of the Kebele militia had requested ENDF deployment to stop the impending Fano threat a few hours before the strike. According to the statement from the Woreda administration, the ENDF indicated that the strike was a mistake, and that it also destroyed the camp and weapons stored therein.
