On 14 January 2026, in Belford Roxo (Rio de Janeiro), the military police exchanged fire with unidentified armed men during a police operation in the Sao Leopoldo community, in the Parque Sao Bernardo neighborhood. Agents shot and injured two suspects, arresting seven men in total and seizing six pistols of different calibers and a surveillance drone. There were no fatalities.
