On 14 January 2026, near Bang Par village (coded as Bang Par (Mong Maw)) (Waingmaw township, Myikyina district, Kachin state), fighting broke out between the Myanmar military and a combined force of the Kachin Independence Army (KIO/KIA) and the People's Defense Force (under the NUG) starting from around 10 pm. The military fired artillery rounds during the clash. Casualties unknown.
