On 14 January 2026, in Hpa Yar Kone village (coded as Kyauktaga) (Kyauktaga township, Bago district, Bago-East region), the Myanmar military's Battalion 307 fired 120mm heavy artillery towards the village around 7:30 am. The attack killed a couple of elderly people and severely injured her grandchild. The grandson later died from his injuries. The initial report of Khit Thit Media reported that the victims were killed by artillery rounds, while Narinjara News and a later report by Khit Thit Media, based on the official statement of the Karen National Union, reported that they were killed by a landmine explosion after they stepped on the landmine. 3 fatalities.
