On 14 January 2026, in Taungdwingyi township (Magway district, Magway region), the combined force of the People's Defense Force - Ponenawaddy (Taungdwingyi), the People's Defense Force - Thayet District battalion 5, the Southern Magway People's Defense Force, and the Magway Guerrilla Warfare attacked the Myanmar military forces who return after the money extortion from timber carts and bamboo carts at the Kulama village road entrance around 8:00 pm. During the attack, 4 military soldiers were killed, one soldier was critically injured, and the combined force seized 4 MA-1 rifles, one 79 grenade launcher, six 40mm grenades, 990 rounds of ammunition, 10 magazines, and 2 bulletproof vests. 4 fatalities.
