On 14 January 2026, in Guayaquil - Ximena (Guayas), a police pursuit led to an armed clash between several armed perpetrators, including a confirmed Los Carniceros gang member, and police forces in Las Malvinas sector. During the clash, the perpetrators shot and killed a police officer as he was driving his car, causing him to crash into a building and run over a bystander. The policeman died at the scene, and the bystander also succumbed to his wounds. A Los Carniceros Gang member was later arrested in connection to the clash. 2 fatalities.
