On 14 January 2026, in Belem (Para), military police officers clashed with and killed a man during an operation in the Monte das Oliveiras occupation area, in the Cabanagem neighborhood. The man resisted arrest and opened fire on officers. Police seized a .32 caliber revolver, ammunition, and a mobile phone from the scene. The man had prior criminal records for robbery, drug trafficking, and domestic violence. 1 fatality.
