On 14 January 2026, overnight, as per a FARDC release, FARDC clashed against M23 in Katongo (Bavira, Uvira, Sud-Kivu), Tuwetuwe, and their surroundings (coded separately), and killed 'more than 180 M23'. The operations' spokesperson said the ground assault was supported by airstrikes and that military gear, including six weapons, was recovered. 180 fatalities split across four events: Katongo (45), Katongo surroundings (45), Tuwetuwe (45), Tuwetuwe surroundings (45).
