On 14 January 2026, overnight, Wazalendo clashed against M23 in Kibirizi (Bwito, Rutshuru, Nord-Kivu), and Kabanda (codded separately). Wazalendo freed several civilians who were held hostage in underground cells in Kibirizi. There was important material damage on both sides and there were no civilian fatalities though a nurse and a child were injured by stray bullets at one of the two locations. Combatant casualties unknown.
