On 13 January 2026, an IED planted by an unidentified group exploded on a Saudi military convoy (coded under ORH) near Ataq city (Ataq, Shabwah), killing 1 Saudi soldier and injuring several others. The convoy included military armored vehicles carrying a Saudi military and security delegation who were on their way to meet the governor of Shabwah governorate.
