On 13 January 2026, in a rural area of Uribia municipality (La Guajira), unidentified suspects detonated an explosive device on the Cerrejon coal train railroad at kilometer 62.3. The explosion damaged the railroad infrastructure and led to the derailment of three cars of a train that passed minutes after the explosion. There were no casualties.
