On 13 January 2026, suspected Hamar militia engaged in an armed clash with Dassanach herders along the Kenya-Ethiopia border in El-Anybura village near Ileret (North Horr, Marsabit), moments after the Hamar militiamen had raided the village. At least 10 people were killed (6 Dassanach and 4 Harmar militiamen), while 8 others sustained injuries during the incident. Dozens of livestock were also killed while the attackers made away with more than 200 goats and about 500 cattle.
