On 13 January 2026, the Movement for Peace Reconstruction and Development (MPRD) ambushed a patrol of the Chadian army near Kono, in the area of Korbol (Barh Koh, Moyen-Chari). The army claimed that the attack was repelled, mentioning the death of several MPRD members as well as the death of 3 soldiers and the injury of ten others. The MPRD claimed that the clashes resulted in the death of several Chadian soldiers, 3 MPRD members and the injury of two other MPRD members. 6 fatalities coded (3 soldiers, 3 MPRD members), as per the lowest estimate available. In the days that followed the armed clash, the Chadian military attacked civilians in the area surrounding Korbol (coded separately).
