On 12 January 2026, in Tha Hpan Kaing village (Mindon township, Thayet district, Magway region), the People's Defense Force-Thayet district-4 battalion carried out a mine attack against the Myanmar military column that was traveling from Mindon to Thayet to transport ballot boxes with 5 civilian vehicles. The explosion killed 4 soldiers and injured many soldiers. 4 fatalities.
