On 12 January 2026, RSF drone strikes targeted the SAF 17th infantry division base, and the vehicle of the Singa locality executive director, in Singa (Sinja, Sennar) during a press conference that included the governors of Sennar, Al Jazirah, White Nile, and Blue Nile, with SAF anti-aircraft fire being reported. 11-28 people were killed (including 1 SAF, the state's director of protocol, a member of the governor's security detail, and 1 government journalist) and 60-73 were injured.
