On 11 January 2026, in Pei Kya village (Kamma township, Thayet district, Magway region), an unknown armed group carried out an explosion and opened fire on two vehicles carrying a township-level administrator and three bodyguards who were inspecting polling stations, between Pyaung Kya village and Pei Kya village around 12:15 pm. During the attack, the administrator and his driver were taken to the hospital and later died, and the other two were injured. 1 fatality.
