On 11 January 2026, FARDC clashed against Mayi Mayi (faction unclear, cited as Bakata Katanga or Mayi Mayi Zoulou) in Bukama (Bukama, Haut-Lomami). 8 Mayi Mayi and 3 civilians were killed, including one who died from his injuries. 3 other bodies were fished out of the Congo River. At least 3 civilians were injured, including a FARDC soldier. Mayi Mayi opened fire on FARDC who were going to introduce themselves to the local authorities. Some sources mentioned that FARDC fired live ammunition at civilians after they revolted during an arrest when the other mentioned that FARDC were accompanied by the heads of the ANR, DGM, and DMIAP offices in Bukama.
